Background
Dr Kirby founded The Dyscovery Centre in Cardiff ten years ago. The Centre has become internationally recognised for its work in Developmental Co-ordination Disorder (DCD) (also sometimes known as Dyspraxia) and related specific learning difficulties. Amanda previously worked as a General Practitioner and has worked in Community Paediatrics and Psychiatry. She has had five books published in the field of specific learning difficulties - Dyspraxia - The Hidden Handicap, A guide to DCD and Dyspraxia, co-authored with Sharon Drew and her most recent book – Fast Facts on Specific Learning Difficulties, co-authored with Prof Bonnie Kaplan from Canada and Developmental Co-ordination Disorder and the Adolescent and 100 tips for Teachers about Dyspraxia and Developmental Co-ordination Disorder. She has recently published Mapping SEN – a CD based programme for schools.
